Little League BaseballŪ chooses Digital ScoutŪ statistics software
for 2004 World Series
WILLIAMSPORT, PA (Aug. 20, 2004)
-
Little League BaseballŪ announced today that Digital Scout's Team Statware
statistical software for Baseball has been selected for the collection,
analysis, and export for publication of the game and player statistics of the
2004 Little League World Series.
"Digital Scout has worked with Little League for more than a year to enhance
their Team Statware program to accommodate all of the rules and traditions of
the Little League game," said Joseph Losch, vice president of operations and
World Series Tournament Chairman of Little League. "We are very pleased with
the software. Statware enables us to quickly share with the public and the
media, accurate, comprehensive game results and performance statistics."
Digital Scout software has been Little League approved since April 2003. The
company worked with Little League to release Little League editions of both
Team Statware, designed for teams, leagues, and tournaments, and Player
Statware, designed for parents who wish to track the performance and create
season and career records for their children.
With Team Statware, statistics can be entered on a handheld or laptop computer
at the game for instant statistics and analysis or it can be entered from a
traditional scorecard on a PC using the software's Quick Entry feature. Team
Statware automatically calculates team and individual player statistics on key
items such as batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, ERA,
and even pitches per inning. Instant onscreen analysis and charts allow the
user to see hitter tendencies. Numerous reports can be printed instantly
including both box score and scorecard formats. These reports are used as
coaching tools, to improve game strategy, and to export to a Web site or the
media.
"Digital Scout has been building tools to save coaches time and support their
teaching objectives since 1995," said Digital Scout founder and chief operating
officer Jim Emery. "We are very pleased by the selection of Statware for use at
the Little League World Series and are honored to be a part of this historic
event."
In addition to being Little League approved, Digital Scout Team Statware is
also the Official Statistical Software of USA Baseball, the national governing
body of the sport. Little League Baseball is a USA Baseball National Member, as
are other major national amateur baseball organizations in America. More than
20 million players are under the USA Baseball governing umbrella.
